Benzema and Ronaldo score in easy 2-0 win vs America, Mission accomplished for Real Madrid

g
Real Madrid have beaten Club America 2-0 in their Club World Cup semi-final. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in injury time to add to Karim Benzema's strike.

They face Kashima Antlers on Sunday (10:30 GMT) with the winners crowned as the champions of the world.

Min 2 | Real go forward, Ronaldo getting his first touch, then retreat all the way back to Keylor Navas under pressure from América. La Volpe said his side would come out swinging and it looks like they intend to hassle Madrid all the way.

Min 6 | Corner to Madrid now as Marcelo seeks Ronaldo at the back stick and the América defence ping it behind. Vázquez has a crack from the clearance but it's more dangerous for the cameramen than Muñoz.

Min 8 | América have a bit of time on the ball but fail to find a way through and Real regain possession, Marcelo going on a gallop down the left but his cross is poor and LUcas Vázque does well to keep the move going but is herded out of play.

Min 12 | A poor touch from Casemiro gifts possession to América, but they're forced back to Muñoz under pressure from Real's front line, with Vázquez doing his usual road runner thing to keep the Mexican side on the back foot.

Min 14 | Ronaldo hits the post, but he was offside. Didn't look like he knew about it when he pulled the trigger but there was no finger-wagging remonstration for the lino's efforts.

Min 20 | América have a crack through Ibarra but it's straight at Navas. Ronaldo is then floored at the other end and Real have a free-kick...Ronaldo hits it, but it hits the wall... not a great effort from the Portuguese there.

Min 25 | Ronaldo! The Portuguese meets a cross from Vázquez but sees his glancing header come back off the post.

Min 28 | 61 percent possession for Real so far but América have looked sporadically dangerous on the break.

Min 30 | Another free-kick for Real as Vázquez is bundled to the floor. Ronaldo lining it up...

Min 32 | Ronaldo's initial shot is poor, straight in to the wall again, but his follow up snap shot with his left draws a fine save from Muñoz. Benzema then has the ball in the net but the Frenchman was called offside.

Min 34 | Close again! Vázquez and Ronaldo combine on the right and the Portuguese glances a cross-shot across the face of goal.

Min 40 | Benzema is through again, tests Muñoz again, but is also offside again. Ronaldo and Modric combine on the left but the América defence isn't fooled by the flickery and trickery and gets it clear with cool efficiency.

Min 46 | Gooooooooal! Benzema finds the back of the net from the left with a neat outside-of-the-boot finish from Toni Kroos' cunning through ball. And that's the half! 1-0 to Real. Barely deserved but Zidane will settle for it and La Volpe has a face like thunder as the teams trudge off.

Min 53 | Carvajal finds himself behind the América defence but can't keep the ball in play with Ronaldo and Benzema unmarked in the middle.

Min 60 | Ronaldo brings a smart block out of Goltz with a shot. América make a change, Carlos Quintero coming on for the lively Ibarra.

Min 65 | Whoops! Vázquez sends in a perfect cross but Benzema and Ronaldo get their wires crossed and the Portuguese ends up heading the ball away from goal. Modric tries an acrobatic shot on the turn and it's just wide. That should have been 2-0.

Min 73 | Modric tries his luck from distance but his shot is straight at Muñoz, who gathers easily.

Min 83 | América have been decent going forward throughout the game but have too often lacked ideas when it comes to the final ball. Peralta this time finds a Madrid player on the edge of the area.

Min 88 | Close! Vázquez plays Marcelo in with a neat chip and the Brazilian finds Morata, who turns to make a yard of space and fires a shot just wide of the post.

Min 93 | Gooooooooal! Out of nowhere Ronaldo finds himself through and he drills a low shot past Muñoz... but hold on, the video assistant referee is getting involved...

Min 93 | This video referee business is going to get a bit messy... nobody seemed to know what was going on there but it looks like the screen-botherers suspected Ronaldo was offside and alerted the ref. After some quizzical looks and a couple of waved arms he decides nothing doing and strolls back to the centre circle and places the ball on the spot. The goal stands, it's 2-0 and game over!
