Liverpool transfer news and rumours: Jurgen Klopp "fuming" after Reds miss out on Oliver Burke?
The highly-rated teenager became the most expensive Scottish player ever earlier this week when he joined Red Bull Leipzig from Nottingham Forest in deal worth £13million.
The Sun claim Klopp saw Burke as "one for the future" at Anfield and was fuming with his scouting team when the youngster sealed his move to Germany.
Burke has signed a five-year contract with RB Leipzig.
Liverpool are planning to follow up their interest in targets Mahmoud Dahoud and Christian Pulisic in future transfer windows, the Liverpool Echo report.
The Reds had to admit defeat in their chase of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Dahoud and Borussia Dortmund winger Pulisic. However, Liverpool will continue to monitor their progress closely and retain hope that they will become Liverpool players in future.
Gladbach refused to part company with £25million rated Germany Under-21s international Dahoud having already sold fellow midfielder Granit Xhaka to Arsenal.
But with the 20-year-old having so far turned down a new contract he is expected to leave the Bundsliga outfit in 2017 when he will be down to the final year of his current deal.
Sturridge backed by former strike partner
Sam Allardyce has been urged to start Daniel Sturridge if he wants to England to play with “no fear” and shake off their Iceland nightmare, writes James Nursey. That’s the view of former Three Lions striker Darius Vassell, who played with fellow Brummie Sturridge at Manchester City a decade ago.
New boss Allardyce is preparing for his first match in charge — a World Cup qualifier away to Slovakia on Sunday — with Sturridge having endured a frustrating start to the season with Liverpool.
The 26-year-old was unhappy being deployed on the right wing in a 2–0 defeat at Burnley in his only start so far, and TV cameras then caught his furious reaction to being overlooked as sub by boss Jurgen Klopp when he sent on Divock Origi instead in the 69th minute of last weekend's 1-1 at Spurs.
“The way he handles pressure, almost like a no-fear attitude — if the other players handled it in the same way, thinking, 'I am going for it, gung-ho', then maybe we would have got further in the tournament."
Reds takeover interest gathers pace
A Chinese consortium is willing to raise its valuation of Liverpool to £1billion to secure an investment in the club, reports the Liverpool Echo. The Chinese state-owned conglomerate Everbright denied such a deal earlier this week and insisted that they were not involved in any pursuit of a deal for a stake in Liverpool.
Everbright chief executive Chen Shuang was reported to have completely knocked down any current interest in investing in Anfield, according to Reuters.
