FG Set To Resuscitate Durbar Festival September 1, 2016 By Admin
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said that the Federal Government is making plans to collaborate with Bauchi State to revive the Durbar Festival and other cultural heritage in the state.
The minister revealed this while he received the Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar, in his office in Abuja on Wednesday.
Alh Lai Mohammed said Durbar is highly rated as he recalled the praise and celebration given to it in a book launch on the festival in Paris recently, he added that the pageantry, colours and its exclusivity to Nigeria makes the festival unique.
He explained that there is an ongoing talk with the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for a global recognition of durbar.
The minister added that Dubar would take a centre stage in the agenda of his ministry to reposition the tourism sector and harness it for economic development.
