FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 12:1-19

MEMORY VERSE:

Acts 12:10-11 "When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews."

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

Finally, on the power of prayer, we want to look at another dimension of prayer whereby the power of God still moves without any reservation. I mean the prayer of intercession by which you stand in the gap for someone else. This can be anybody, family, place, situation, etc. You probably have prior knowledge of the situation or it may be by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Most people don't have much problem praying for themselves and their immediate family members, but to start praying for someone else outside their immediate caucus is a big deal for them.

In our text today, King Herod had succeeded in killing Apostle James and got accolades from the Jews for a job well done. Then he went ahead and took Peter, kept him in prison with a plan to kill him after Easter. The Bible says: "Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him" (Acts 12:5).

In this case, Peter didn't do the praying by himself. In fact, the Bible affirms that he was fast asleep in the prison while the entire church was holding vigil on his behalf. It is written: "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear" (Isaiah 65:24). God heard them and sent an angel to go and miraculously set him free, even Peter himself could not initially comprehend what was happening to him. 

His deliverance was so amazing that, even the praying church in the house of Mary the mother of John Mark refused to believe Rhoda that Peter was actually back from prison. The Bible says: ".... they were astonished" (Acts 12:16b). Become an intercessor today and an instrument of deliverance to someone somewhere from satanic captivity, affliction, poverty or even death. May God raise genuine intercessors for you too and do amazing things in your life, in Jesus' name.

Daniel 6:10 "Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime."

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

We are still on the power of prayer. Our discussion of the topic will not be complete without mentioning the name of Daniel. Or how else do we want to classify someone that was thrown mercilessly into the den of lions overnight and came out alive in the morning hale and hearty?

Please note that Daniel did not become an emergency prayer warrior so that the lions would not make him their dinner; he had already cultivated the habit of prayer before that time. Prayer was practically second nature to him. It was recorded concerning Daniel, that: "..... he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime." (Daniel 6:10b).

Daniel was hated, not for any offences he committed, but simply because of God's grace and favour upon his life. Jealous and envious colleagues conspired against him to pull him down; they cleverly and successfully instigated the king against him and thought that was his end. Humanly speaking, that would have been the end of Daniel, but not with the God of Daniel.

May be, like Daniel, you have been doing your duties diligently in your place of work, business or environment but there are evil gang-ups and conspiracies all around you. I have a good news for you: the God of Daniel is still very much alive and at work. If only you can be like Daniel and cultivate the habit of persistent prayer, you will see God in action on your behalf. It is written: "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us" (Ephesians 3:20).

Our Lord Jesus Himself, while teaching on prayer, said, "....that men ought always to pray and not to faint" (Luke 18:1b). Beloved, I encourage you to pray persistently and experience the power thereby, in Jesus' name.

1 Chronicles 4:10 "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested."

MESSAGE:

We are still on the power of prayer. Prayer is so important in the life of a believer that the topic cannot be overemphasized. Prayer changes things, lives, situations and circumstances.

The Bible gives an interesting account of a man called Jabez. Though summarised in just two verses, Jabez' story is very impactful and worthy of emulation. The Bible affirms that Jabez was a more honorable man than all his brethren, but the root meaning of his name was sorrow. He realised this fact but refused to accept it as his fate. Jabez's life of prayer is a demonstration of God's power to turn situations around for good when we call upon Him. The Psalmist says: "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." (Psalm 37:4).

You are there, people are calling you "big boss", but within you, the reverse seems to be the case. You can't really see the manifestation. Your case is probably like that of Jabez and you need to rise up in holy anger and reject everything that is working contrary to God's plan and purpose for your life. The Bible says: "And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good." (Exodus 1:31a).

Whatever you do not want in your life but you allow has a right to stay there. Whatever you don't want, you don't want, and you need to make it clear that you don't want it. You need to cry out violently against every unpleasant situation in your life and command it to go. It is written: "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force" (Matthew 11:12).

Rise up today and revoke the resident permit you have consciously or unconsciously given to that unwanted situation; eject it out of your life totally. Remember the Bible's assurance that whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. God has invested great authority in you. Use it to the glory of His name!

MEMORY VERSE: 

“Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.” – 2 Kings 20:5-6

PRAISE AND WORSHIP:

MESSAGE:

Yesterday, we began to look at the power of prayer. Today, we are revisiting the life of that prayerful king called Hezekiah. May you be a reference point of good things, in the name of Jesus.

The Scriptures record that Hezekiah was sick unto death and he got this express message from Prophet Isaiah: “Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.”

Hezekiah did not argue with Prophet Isaiah for having the audacity to deliver such a terrible message to him, a whole king. He didn’t engage in self-pity; rather, he took the matter back to God in prayer.

Prophet Isaiah had not even gone out of the palace before God told him to go back and reverse the evil prophecy of death, adding fifteen more years to the same life that was on the verge of packing up. That is what prayer can do when you trust in the Unchangeable Changer.

You might have received a bad diagnosis or perhaps you have a terminal sickness. It is only a medical report, not God’s report and He alone has the final say concerning your life and situation. Someone once said that: “Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is like receiving a death sentence.” But that is a personal opinion, not God’s. That cancer doesn’t have to kill you, if only you can be like Hezekiah. If God could reverse Hezekiah’s death sentence that was from Him, how much more the one that comes from man.

Hebrews 13:8 says: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” He has done it before and He’s still in the business of healing the sick from all forms of sicknesses, diseases, infirmities and satanic afflictions. Rise up today from that bed of affliction; cry to God in fervent prayers and receive your healing as well as life in place of death, in Jesus’ name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES:

There are no hopeless situations; there are only men and women who have grown hopeless about their situations.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

MEMORY VERSE:

2 Kings 19:35 "And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

Prayer has so many definitions with almost all of them pointing to its power and efficacy. Prayer has been described as the master key. This means that it has the power to open all locked good doors and lock up all opened bad ones. It is also defined as the staff of the Christian to walk with God. That is, to live a victorious Christian life, you must be a person of prayer.

King Hezekiah's exemplary life of prayer is a pointer to what God can do in the lives of those who can pray. The Bible says in James 5:16b that: "The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much." Hezekiah was a righteous king who trusted in the Lord God of Israel. The Bible records that God was with him and prospered his ways.

Hezekiah was troubled when he received the boastful threats of Sennacherib. He sent a message to Prophet Isaiah who gave him the assurance of God's backing. He also took the letter to God in prayer personally. Again, Prophet Isaiah sent to tell him that God had answered his prayers and would give him victory over Sennacherib.

Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, at that time, had the record of defeating every king or city that he fought against, until he made the fatal mistake of going against a praying child of God, Hezekiah. He received a total knock-out; his army of 185,000 soldiers was completely wiped out in just one night. He returned to his country shamefully and fell into the waiting hands of his assassinators.

What is the battle that is harassing your life? What is the Sennacherib that is challenging the power of God in your life -- finance, career, business, marriage, health, etc.? As Hezekiah did, I enjoin you to hand your challenge over to the Man of War (Exodus 15:3) and experience the raw manifestation of His power that delivers to the uttermost.

When you hand it over to the Lord, He takes it over.

John 8:6 "This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not."

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

Yesterday, we considered what the finger of God is and what it can do. Today, we are still looking at what God's finger is, what it has done, what it is doing and what it will do.

The finger of God is a finger that addresses human conscience, as we read in our Fire today. It is very easy to notice the sin in other people's lives but cover our own (Matthew 7:3-5). Jesus told us that we must take out the beam in your own eyes before you can point your finger to the mole in your brothers' eyes.

THE FINGER OF GOD (I) by Dr D.K. Olukoya

The finger of God does not point to sins of others but to your own sins. Jesus told the Pharisees that only the sinless one amongst them should throw the first stone. But writing on the floor with His finger, Jesus highlighted the importance of compassion and forgiveness. When others are caught in sin, you should not be quick to pass judgement as if you have never sinned in your life.

When Jesus said that only the person that had not sinned should throw the first stone, all the woman's accusers slipped away quietly. Their conscience condemned them, but unfortunately, they never asked for that merciful finger that wrote on the floor to forgive them. Even when the magicians recognised the finger of God in Egypt, instead of Pharaoh to let all the Israelites go, he still hardened his heart.

Beloved, don't be like these people. Recognise your sinful nature that the finger of God is pointing at and ask for forgiveness. Remember Jesus did not condemn the adulterous woman neither did He ignore or condone her sin. So also, He is ready to forgive the sins in your life that His finger is pointing at if only you are ready to confess and forsake them.

I pray that the finger of God will locate and destroy all the shackles of sin that the enemy has put in your life, in the name of Jesus. Beloved, the truth you need to buy and not sell is that the finger of God cannot be of any help or benefit to you until you give your life to Christ. Take that quality decision today.

MEMORY VERSE:

Exodus 8:19 "Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said."

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

The Bible affirms the sovereignty of God and His matchless power. Everything about God describes the depth of His mighty power. We are looking at the finger of God and its awesome glory.

The finger of God demonstrates the unlimited power of God and it is more powerful than any other power in the world. It is the picture of God's sovereignty. The finger of God is His power and might. It is the finger that creates and promotes. It is a weapon of warfare (Exodus 8:19). It can cast out demons, according to Luke 11:19. The finger of God is the finger that heals. The finger of God works signs and wonders. The finger of God addresses our character and behaviour towards God and our neighbours.

The Ten Commandments, which was the laws we are to follow, were written with the finger of God -- Deuteronomy 9:10. God had to write with His own finger to show the terribleness of our sinful nature and the need for a saviour, which also cost Him His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. He wrote with His fingers to warn on the impending danger of falling into sin. But because we are depraved, we could not obey the laws on our own. He still had to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem the world from sin.

Beloved, how will you feel at last when the same finger of God is pointed at you that you cannot enter His Kingdom? The finger of God will work against sinners, but it will work in favour of the righteous. Remember, the finger of God is powerful. It is the finger of judgement as well as the finger of mercy. You can ask for this mercy right now. Repent of any secret sin; ask for forgiveness and mercy. Do not wait until the finger of God accuses and judges you of your sins on the last day. God bless you.

INFIRMITY MUST DIE by Dr D.K. Olukoya

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 13:10-13

MEMORY VERSE: Jeremiah 17:14 “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”  

PRAISE AND WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

There are some people that are under the direct affliction of satan; they are in bondage and they do not know how to get out of it. I pray for you today, every spirit of infirmity troubling your life shall die by fire, in the Name of Jesus.

In the Fire Scripture of today, Jesus healed a woman of her infirmity of eighteen years. She was always in a bent position and couldn’t walk properly. Jesus sees some physical illnesses as a result of demonic oppression or activity. This crippled woman was troubled by “a spirit” (a representative of satan). In Matthew 12:22, a similar incident happened, “Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.”

Beloved, so many people have been imprisoned by sin, sickness and spiritual death. Such individuals are in distress as well as great need. Are you suffering from any infirmity? Are you bound by the yoke of sin? Jesus is the Yoke Breaker. When He was on earth, He went about doing good. And before He went to be with His Father in heaven, He paid the price for our infirmity and sin on the cross of Calvary where He shed His blood. You do not need to carry that sickness; you do not need to succumb to any infirmity because the Bible says in Isaiah 53:5, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Jesus killed that infirmity on the cross of Calvary; you only just need to key in by having faith that Jesus has taken your sickness and disease. He earned victory for you over infirmity. It is your responsibility to appropriate that victory. Two people cannot bear the cost of one infirmity; Jesus carried it for you in His body. Thank God for the substitutionary work of His dear Son, Jesus Christ!

I command every arrow of infirmity in your body to come out by fire, in the Name of Jesus.

MEMORY VERSE:

Exodus 20:12 "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

Many people are going through one problem or the other due to parental curses that they caused for themselves. These problems can be described as self-inflicted as we see in the case of the children of Jacob, Reuben, Levi and Simeon. The curses were Jacob's reaction to their behaviour. The Bible has automatic curses for children who do not honour their parents (Exodus 20:12; Proverbs 20:20).

However, God has promised to set us free from all problems, including parental curses. Are you suffering from parental curses? Do not despair, for there is surely a way of escape. You need to come to the Lord. He is the only One that can deliver you. In Psalms 50:15, the Lord says, "And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me."

There are steps to receiving deliverance from the Lord. First, you need to acknowledge that you are a sinner, and repent of your sins. In John 1:10 says, "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." Secondly, you need to ask the Lord to forgive and cleanse you from your unrighteousness according to the same 1 John 1:9 that says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Thirdly, you need to seek the face of the Lord for direction on how to proceed on other activities concerning your total deliverance. For instance, the Lord may direct you to go ahead and pray deliverance prayers before you go to your parents to ask for their forgiveness if they are alive, or it could be the other way around, to ask for their forgiveness before you go for deliverance. It is important to follow divine directions so that you can obtain complete deliverance from the Lord.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MESSAGE:

It is sad to know that there are many people who are labouring under the curses issued against them by their parents. Sometimes, under the manipulation of the devil, some people invite parental curses upon themselves. There are some too who become victims of parental curses through carelessness or stubbornness.

Reuben slept with his father's wife and his father cursed him. Look at the effect of that curse upon Reuben: 1 Chronicles 5:1-2 says, "Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's: )"

Reuben lost his birthright and his inheritance to a far younger brother, Joseph. The punishment did not stop with him; it extended to his generations after him. What a pity! This is how serious parental curses can be.

I have seen men and women who needed to go to God in fasting and prayer to ask for mercy, forgiveness and restoration. It was after then that they had peace and their lives began to amend. Before then, they could not make headway in any of their endeavours.

Parental curses are not to be joked with. One must be careful not to provoke one's parents to anger to the extent of making them to issue curses. God frowns at disobedience or disloyalty to parents, be it biological parents, foster parents, parents-in-law or parents in the Lord. Therefore, care must be taken when dealing with any of these categories of parents.

Beloved, are you labouring under a parental curse? There is hope for you. First, you must give your life to Christ and become His child. Second, you should pray to God for mercy and forgiveness. Then use the appropriate Scriptures to break the curse and tell God to replace them with His blessings.
