Today's Devotion |Wednesday| [THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS (II)]

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS (II)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 23:23-34

MEMORY VERSE:

Luke 23:34 "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Yesterday, we stressed the necessity for every believer to obey God on the issue of loving and forgiving others as He has loved and forgiven us. Also, as we noted yesterday, the one who forgives others does more good to himself than anyone else because he frees himself from a self-imposed prison.

In spite of the wrong accusation and punishment meted to Jesus, who was sinless and guiltless, He said, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34). Stephen, the first martyr, prayed to God on behalf of his persecutors and murderers that He should not count the wrong against them. If he hadn't done that, heaven would have wasted Saul of Tarsus before he became a great apostle. Similarly, Joseph, in the Old Testament, was a type of Jesus. He freely forgave his brothers who sold him into slavery. All these are written for our learning.

However, if you are offended or aggrieved and are finding it difficult to forgive and forget as you are commanded by the Lord, you can get healing for your emotions. God heals the broken hearted! Pray healing and deliverance prayers to free your emotions of the roots of bitterness and liberate yourself from the self-imposed prison of hate and unforgiving spirit.

Someone said that God forgave our sins, cast them into the ocean of forgetfulness and put a sign there. NO FISHING! That is the same thing we should do for those who offend us.

The weight and burden of unforgiveness, bitterness and hatred is capable of making those who carry them about unable to take the spiritual flight at the time of rapture. Therefore, it is advisable to invite the blood of Jesus and the fire of the Holy Ghost to get rid of such weights and burden now. God's grace is still available and at work. The Father, in His infinite mercy, will give you the grace to obey Him unquestioningly, completely and promptly on this all-important issue, in the name of Jesus.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Forgiveness is the hallmark of Christian maturity. Forgiven greatly; forgive greatly.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

THE STRONGHOLD OF UNFORGIVENESS IS DESTROYED IN YOUR LIFE TODAY, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Every arrow of unforgiveness in my heart, backfire, in the name of Jesus.

2. Blood of Jesus, deliver me from the grip of unforgiveness, in the name of Jesus.

3. The grace to forgive and move on, fall upon my life, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Lord, give me the grace to release every prisoner of unforgiveness from my heart, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father, help me to love others as You love me, in the name of Jesus.

6. Power to forgive others as Christ forgives me, fall upon me, in the name of Jesus.

7. My Father, make me an apostle of love, peace and unity, in the name of Jesus.

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS (I)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 7:54-60

MEMORY VERSE:

Acts 7:60 "And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Forgiveness is a very fundamental subject in Christianity. Its importance is underscored by the fact that Jesus Christ taught us how to forgive others in words and in deed. He also expects us to forgive others as He forgave us and love others as He loved us. The grace to forgive others comes from the Holy Spirit. One can ask for it and receive it in the name of Jesus. Since the Lord expressly commanded us to forgive others, we ought to obey.

Forgiveness flows from an understanding of God's love (Agape) and its peculiar characteristics - unfeigned, unconditional, sacrificial, self-sacrificing, perfect and eternal. When we show genuine readiness to forgive others, God will supply the grace and enabling. The Bible says, "For this is the love of God that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous" (1 John 5:3).

Anyone who fails to forgive others will be disobeying God's commandment on making brotherly love to continue, "following peace with all men" and promoting unity of the brethren". The true practice of God's love and forgiveness (loving others and forgiving others as God does) are hallmarks of maturity and great stature in Christianity. They are also proofs of Christlikeness. Jesus demonstrated it. Stephen did and Joseph, in the Old Testament did too.

How much and how well we love and forgive others point to how close we are to God, our level of obedience and proves that we are walking with Him as well as pleasing Him.

Beloved, when Jesus told Peter that we should forgive others seventy times seven times, He was stressing that forgiving others should be something we do often and often, as long and as much as we want our heavenly Father to forgive our trespasses too. We ought to love others and forgive them as God has demonstrated His unconditional and perfect love to us. Is the flesh resisting your will and desire to forgive someone who has offended you? Tell the Holy Spirit to help you to nail the flesh to the cross and pray to silence any voice that does not want you to obey God completely.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

The one who forgives, frees himself from prison.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

RECEIVE THE GRACE TO BE CHRISTLIKE MORE AND MORE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Every stronghold of unforgiveness in me, scatter by fire, in the name of Jesus.

2. Evil river of bitterness in my life, dry up by fire, in the name of Jesus.

3. The grace to forgive and forget others' offences, come upon me, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Power of unforgiveness, loose your grip upon my life, in the name of Jesus.

5. I jump out of the prison of unforgiveness, in the name of Jesus.

6. Blood of Jesus, purge my life of bitterness, in the name of Jesus.

7. Power to be Christlike, incubate my life, in the name of Jesus.

MAKE A PROOF OF YOUR PRIESTHOOD (II)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 19:13-15; 18:1-6

MEMORY VERSE:

1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Child training is inevitable. A child left to himself bringeth his mother shame. Eli was a man who tasted shame because of his children. Mrs Eli was not even mentioned in the Bible. She did not give her children any command. Eli was a priest in Israel, he failed in the area of child raising. The two children (Hophni and Phinehas) became very notorious and were dreaded by people.

Following our yesterday's discussion to make a proof of your priesthood, it would be necessary to remind ourselves that child training is inevitable. It is compulsory for parents and is a command from God (Proverbs 22:6).

The training and nurturing has to be done according to divine standard. That is, following divine guidelines. No parent is perfect, hence no perfect human parent formula. To do it correctly, you need to become the father and mother after Gods own heart. When you know God, walking in His ways and doing His will, it won't be hard for you to train and lead your children in the same way. Godly fathers, in support of godly mothers lead them to Christ, just as Hannah did to Samuel. Pass on your faith in Christ as Eunice and Lois to Timothy, and Zechariah and Elizabeth to John the Baptist.

Be the teacher of the word and the house like Aquila and Priscilla (2 Timothy 2:15), revealing the truth and the unfailing promises of God. Help them to grow up, knowing that we should watch and pray without ceasing. Let them be like the sons of the priest who keep the fire in the altar burning and blazing hot for the Lord. Don't forget to inculcate the right moral values which are integral part of godly character. Help them to cultivate and manifest godliness from their youth, seeking God right early (Ecclesiastes 12:1).

Today's world is infested with physical and spiritual pollution and this is catching so fast on the young ones, especially the youths of this generation. Parent, do everything within your power, in partnership with the Holy Spirit, to teach and watch on your children live a life of holiness and righteousness, within and without. Teach them how to avoid the defilement of body, soul and spirit. Make them to know the benefits of godly association and relationship as well as the consequences of evil association (Psalm 1:1-6).

Don't forget discipline always. Be loving, firm and strict. Let your discipline be purposeful and commensurate with the offence. Don't provoke your children to wrath (Ephesians 6:4). Remember they are human too. Make them your pride and a befitting crown at your old age (Proverbs 17:6). God trusts you, as He trusted Abraham. Fathers, instruct and mothers teach; both of you should model God for these young ones to emulate. As you do all these and more, you are raising worthy generations for God.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

You cannot bribe God. All that He wants from you is to obey and hearken to His voice which is better than sacrifice.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

YOUR CHILDREN SHALL NOT SERVE THEIR ENEMIES AND BRING SHAME TO YOUR FAMILY, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Begin to thank God for the opportunity that He has given you to train a child.

2. Holy Spirit, overshadow my children, in the name of Jesus.

3. Holy Ghost fire, swallow up my children, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. My children shall not bring forth trouble, in the name of Jesus.

5. Thou power of God envelop my children, in the name of Jesus.

6. My character shall not mislead my children, in the name of Jesus.

7. Begin to thank God for answered prayers.

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

MAKE A PROOF OF YOUR PRIESTHOOD (I)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 19:13-15; 18:1-6

MEMORY VERSE:

Psalms 127:3 "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Children, though small and sometimes helpless human, yet they mean so much to God and are close to His heart. God is the ultimate Parent. Every adult today was a child yesterday. If viewed correctly parenting is a cycle, going from one parent getting old and giving birth to another potential parent. We are all from a parent and we give birth to future parents. Summarily, both parents and children are God's. At whatever level of parenting you are, you are like a labourer in God's vineyard - a steward that must faithfully render his or her service to the Master, such that you receive a "Well done worthy servant" commendation from the Almighty.

My first question, parent, are you ready to discharge your duty faithfully and without bias? Can God trust you with His heritage? Will you build this life for Him? Can He commit this life into your hands? Hope you won't fail Him like Eli? He lost two potential priests and eventually lost the priesthood even to the extent of bringing the divine curse of destruction upon his generation (1 Samuel 3:14). What a calamity! What a tragedy! A serious matter indeed! It was all because the father of the house failed to prove his priesthood. He lost his divine position as the father of the house and the priest in the house. He failed God by shying away from meting out appropriate discipline to his children. Hear the word of God. Failure to watch over your children that God has given you or put under your care brings grave consequences. You have failed God and rendered the child incapable of fulfilling destiny.

There are also compromising parents. Oh! You don't want to lose the favour of your child? Therefore, you allow him or her to do as he or she desires. It happened to Samson's parents. Did I hear you say they were not to blame? But they subtly consented to every desire to marry a woman against the will of God. No wonder each time this evil desire came up, the Bible used the tune "went down" (Judges). I pray your children shall not go down the pit of destruction, in Jesus' name. Silence means consent! Samson fell on Delilah's laps, lost his glorious destiny and died with his enemies.

Dear parent, children are not given to you to raise themselves. They are gifts and blessings from God, to be loved and cherished, but also disciplined and rebuked, if and when necessary. Don't shy away from this divine role. Don't commit the responsibility to another - a maid, a brother, sister, friend or neighbour. It is a glorious ministry and service to God and to mankind. Play your role and prove your calling! The future of our church depends on whatever we do with our children today. They must be shaped and moulded to God's standard.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Children are precious in the sight of the Lord. Place great value on them.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

YOUR REWARD OVER YOUR CHILDREN SHALL NOT BE GIVEN TO ANOTHER, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. O God, arise and teach my children by Yourself, in the name of Jesus.

2. Glory killers, destiny aborters, my children are not your candidate, die, in the name of Jesus.

3. My children's future is secured in Christ, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. I shall not fail God over my children, in the name of Jesus.

5. Power to raise my children in conformity with divine standard, come upon me now, in the name of Jesus.

6. My children's lives shall not disgrace the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.

7. My children (mention their names), arise and shine, in the name of Jesus.

Today's Devotion (Saturday)

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

SEVEN EARNEST SUPPLIANTS

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Kings 8:28-59; John 19:30-38

MEMORY VERSE:

1 Kings 9:3 "And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Im Zechariah 12:10, God said He would pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication on the home of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of grace (Hebrews 10:29) and supplication (Romans 8;26-27). He is the One who awakens us to the desire and need to pray. A suppliant is a person making a humble or earnest plea to someone in power or authority.

Let us examine seven Bible characters that made desperate and heartfelt cry to God for intervention, plea as well as help and their requests were granted. There are important lessons to learn from these suppliants.

First, when Jacob desperately needed divine change in his life and destiny, he cried to God for help. He knew that only God's intervention could save him. In Genesis 32:26, the Bible says that he had an encounter at a place called Peniel. As he prayed  and wrestled with God's angel, the visitor of heaven wanted to return to heaven because day was about to break. Jacob said he would not let the angel go unless he blessed him. The angel asked him, "What is your name." He said, "Jacob" and the angel said, "Your name shall no longer be Jacob but Israel." From that day, Jacob's life and destiny changed for good.

Moses' cry of intercession to God for His forgiveness for the Israelites who had made and worshipped the golden calf is another instance. Moses proved to be a great leader as he stood in the gap and told God to forgive the sin the Israelites had committed or blot him out from His book (Exodus 32:31,32). Similarly, Solomon cried to God for wisdom in 1 Kings 3:7,9. His request was not to fulfil a selfish motive, it was to enable him serve God and lead His people excellently. God honoured his request. Beyond wisdom, He gave Solomon riches and wealth untold.

Also, David's cry for cleansing in Psalm 51:1,2 is a case in point. He had sinned against God and was guilty of adultery and murder. He cried desperately to God for mercy, forgiveness and restoration. God granted his request. He did not despise David's broken spirit and contrite heart. Another earnest suppliant was the dying soul in Luke 23:42. The penitent thief cried to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when thou get to thy Kingdom." Though the man was at the verge of being turned to hell, Jesus granted his plea and made him a candidate of paradise. Similarly, the Philippian Jailer's cry for salvation comes to mind. In Acts 16:30, the Jailer had seen God's power in the deliverance of Paul and Silas, the prisoners under his wrath. He wanted to kill himself but Paul stopped him. He then asked what he could do to be saved. He and his household received salvation. Lastly, Paul's cry for deliverance in 2 Corinthians 12:8,9 is notable. He cried to God three times for deliverance from the thorn in the flesh and messenger of satan that was troubling him. God told him that His grace was sufficient for him.

Beloved, I encourage you to become an earnest suppliant today. Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto thee.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

God is willing to supply your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

EVERY PROBLEM THAT HAS ENTERED INTO YOUR LIFE FROM THE DREAM SHALL BE DESTROYED, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Father, give me the spirit of grace and supplication, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father, give me my Peniel encounter today, in the name of Jesus.

3. O God, give me a broken spirit, a contrite heart and banish sin from my life, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. My Father, intervene in my affairs and turn my life around for good, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father, send Your help to me, in the name of Jesus.

6. O God, by Your mercy, arise and meet me at the point of my need, in the name of Jesus.

7. Father, let my prayer life produce ear-tingling testimonies, in the name of Jesus.

HOLY SPIRIT AND ANOINTING (II)

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

HOLY SPIRIT AND ANOINTING (II)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 10:38-43

MEMORY VERSE:

Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Many Christians have prayed for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the anointing, but they did not receive it. The Bible says you ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts (James 4:3). May you not ask amiss, in Jesus' name. Look at the wordings of this song that people sing when asking for anointing:

"Fill my heart, O Lord

With Holy Ghost fire

Anoint me, O Lord, I pray

Anointing for service

O my Lord, grant me

To be able to work for you"

Beloved, the song summarises the major purpose of the anointing. The anointing is not for your selfish use. Jesus told the apostles in Acts 1:8 that the power and anointing they will receive will give them boldness, courage, insight ability, confidence and authority to do the work of evangelism.

The anointing of God upon your life is to do the work of ministry first. That is the primary purpose. When you do these, then the numerous benefits of the anointing will be yours. It gives you healing, prosperity, protection, frustrates the token of the liars, and makes you untouchable to the powers of darkness. For you to receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit, beloved, you must fulfil the following basic requirements: You must be born again. You must be baptised with the Holy Spirit. If God has been calling you to do a particular assignment in His vineyard, you must answer that call. You must develop intimacy with the Holy Spirit. You must be addicted to the word of God and prayer. You must pay the price by being hungry and thirsty for the Holy Spirit, being fervent in prayer, being dead to flesh, being broken. Also, you should engage in purposeful fasting, have persistent faith in God and openness of your spirit and mind.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit upon your head will only work if you are humble, obedient to God's command as well as faithfully and constantly worshipping Him. Worship brings down the anointing. You must avoid sin at all cost, avoid extra attention or questionable closeness to the opposite sex, avoid flattery, anger, adultery, bitterness, pride of achievement, laziness, unforgiving spirit, and so on. All these are anointing destroyers. The anointing of God upon your head shall not be destroyed, in Jesus' name. Beloved, the anointing is sweet and pleasant

Give it all it takes to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the anointing.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

When God anoints you, you will be appointed for supernatural accomplishments.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

THE ANOINTING TO DISGRACE YOUR OPPRESSORS SHALL COME UPON YOUR LIFE, IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. The anointing to finish well in the race of life, fall on me now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

2. Holy Spirit, disgrace my oppressors, in the name of Jesus Christ.

3. Pollutants of anointing in my foundation, die now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

EVENING

4. Holy Spirit, possess my life with Your fullness, in the name of Jesus Christ.

5. The enemies of the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life, die now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

6. The oil of heaven shall not dry up in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ.

7. Anointing of backwardness in my life, dry up now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Today's Devotion (Thursday)

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

HOLY SPIRIT AND ANOINTING (I)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 61:1-3

MEMORY VERSE:

Isaiah 10:27 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Christianity is not a religion of the lazy ones. Christianity has power and the only way to receive that power is to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and then the anointing. When the anointing of the Holy Spirit comes upon your head, your life will never remain the same. You will become another man. The only thing that makes you different from other Christians is the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon your head. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life will make a huge difference in your Christian walk. To anoint is to pour oil upon a person or a thing for a divine purpose (Leviticus 8:10-12).

Anointing will make you to do supernatural things. That is, you will move from being an ordinary person to a supernatural person. With the anointing of the Holy Spirit, all impossibilities in your life will become possible. It is the supernatural equipment for supernatural assignment. It is God's extra touch upon your life. When the anointing comes upon you, you will receive the boldness to witness to others because it replaces shyness with boldness (Acts 1:8). Anointing will prepare you for battle against the powers of darkness, because when the battle comes in contact with the higher power, it gives way. The anointing of the Holy Spirit can generate wealth for you. Jesus had this anointing as it can be seen in various ways: He changed water to wine; He fed 5000 people with five loaves of bread and two fishes. Elijah had this anointing too, when he prayed and the widow had increasing flow of oil.

Beloved, when you allow Jesus Christ to have His way in your life and you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you will also receive this anointing to generate wealth. Anointing will give you wisdom, heal your broken heart, set you free from the captivity of satan and destroy evil yokes of poverty, curses and covenants.

Beloved, if you really want to be set apart for the use of God, you don't want to be an ordinary church goer, you want to be relevant in God's Kingdom, you must pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

The anointing of the Holy Spirit will not fall on a goat with horns but on the sheep that is meek.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

ABUNDANT GRACE AND ANOINTING TO FULFIL YOUR DESTINY SHALL BE GRANTED TO YOU BY THE LORD ALMIGHTY.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Holy Spirit, baptise me afresh now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

2. Holy Spirit, saturate my life with Your fresh fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.

3. Holy Spirit, dry up every strange anointing in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ.

EVENING

4. Every resistance to the power of the Holy Spirit in my life, die now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

5. My life shall not grieve the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ.

6. Holy Spirit, make my life Your dwelling place, in the name of Jesus Christ.

7. Holy Spirit, guide me, help me and comfort me daily, in the name of Jesus.

KEYS FOR THRIVING IN MARRIAGE - LIFELONG COMMITMENT (III)

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

KEYS FOR THRIVING IN MARRIAGE -- LIFELONG COMMITMENT (III)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Song of Solomon 8:5-7

MEMORY VERSE:

Song of Solomon 8:7 "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

From the day marriage vows were exchanged to the hour of death, Priscilla and Aquila, her husband, stood by each other in spite of all odds. Of course the rains came, the heat came, the wind blew and the storm raged, but none of these could change their commitment to each other or to God. All the problems that came were not tough enough to separate them. Theirs was a love so sizzling that no water could quench (Song of Solomon 8:7). They stood together through thick and thin. They were side by side, not most of the time but all the time. Whether in the church, at home, in the office or in the training of workers, they were always together and nothing could separate them.

Another fascinating thing we discovered about this unique couple is that in the six instances where their names were mentioned, three of them had Aquila's name mentioned first and the other three had Priscilla's name mentioned first. Neither was considered more important or superior. And there was no form of inferiority complex between them.

Their union was one with a difference. Unlike what obtains in some parts of the world, Aquila never thought of trampling upon his wife as a weaker sex. He was not a party to the selfish lot who spend all their money on themselves, wear the best clothes, ride in the best cars, and attend all important meetings alone, while they confine their wives to the home.

The consecration of this couple was not hidden. To be precise,  'seven major attributes make them stand out among other couples the Bible teaches us about.'

1. Aquila and Priscilla were one in their experience of God's saving grace and power (Acts 18:18).

2. They were one in their holy zeal for the Saviour and in their services to the church (Romans 16:31).

3. They were one in their secular employment (Acts 18:3).

4. They were united in family decisions (Acts 18:26).

5. They were one in their profound knowledge of the scriptures (Acts 18:26).

6. They were one in consecration and commitment (Romans 16:4).

7. They were one in fellowship with fellow believers (Romans 16:4).

You too can emulate them.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Where there is no agape love, there is no marriage. Divine love is the building block of a successful marriage.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

YOUR MARRIAGE SHALL FULFIL ITS DIVINE PURPOSES, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Lord, save my marriage from the hands of wicked powers, in the name of Jesus Christ.

2. Lord, visit my family with Your saving grace, in the name of Jesus Christ.

3. Lord, ignite my life with the fire of holy love, in the name of Jesus Christ.

EVENING

4. Lord Jesus, decorate my marriage with Your garment of glory, in the name of Jesus Christ.

5. Lord, kindle the fire of holy zeal on my marital altar, in the name of Jesus.

6. The children of my marriage shall glorify God, in the name of Jesus Christ.

7. I yield every area of my marriage into the hands of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Today's Devotion (Tuesday)

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

KEYS FOR THRIVING IN MARRIAGE -- LIFELONG COMMITMENT (II)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 31:10-30

MEMORY VERSE:

Proverbs 31:11 "The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Priscilla, the faithful wife of Aquila, stands out as a good example for godly women. In the Bible, she was best described as an ideal partner whose life and works synchronised with the original purpose of God for making the woman as revealed in Genesis 2:18. Priscilla was her husband's constant companion. The saying "two hearts that beat as one" is true of this couple (Mark 10:8). Moreover her life epitomised the vivid picture painted by King Lemuel in Proverbs 31:10-30. These verses capture the essence of the expectation of God from every woman. Indeed, Priscilla and her husband (Aquila) typify what an ideal partnership really is. There were only a few references made to this couple in the New Testament, but it is interesting to note that never was Priscilla mentioned without the mention of her husband and vice versa.

The first time we read of this couple is in Acts 18:2. After this comes other similar scripture passages that capture the life and activities of this uncommon wife with her husband. Acts 18:26; Romans 16:3-4 and 2 Timothy 4:9 say "Salute Priscilla and Aquila and the household of Onesiphorus."

These six passages are the only portions in the scripture where references are made to Priscilla and her husband. Quite impressive, however, is the fact that they were never separated. Unity was their lifestyle. Every time you needed them, they were both available. Every time the Lord came knocking at their door, they were both there to receive Him. Every time the church called for selfless service, they were both enlisted as volunteers. Every time there was an individual to disciple, equip and develop to maturation, they were both prepared for the task. Even in secular employment, they were united. In Romans 12:1-3, we learn that there are three characteristics of consecration: It is a voluntary decision, a personal decision and a sacrificial decision. Priscilla and Aquila were exemplary couple and disciples of Jesus Christ.

When you give up your will for God's will, you will hear the voice of God (Acts 13:2). I encourage you to emulate the virtues of the Christian couple.

KEYS FOR THRIVING IN MARRIAGE -- LIFELONG COMMITMENT (I)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:22-33

MEMORY VERSE:

Ephesians 5:33 "Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

In marriage, lack of spiritual, emotional and intellectual intimacy usually precedes a breakdown of physical intimacy. When couples fail to expose their secret thoughts to one another, they shut off the line of communication to one another. The great secret of conjugal happiness is mutual love, kindness, tenderness and loveliness of character in the home. The wife should respect and obey the husband and the husband should love and care for the wife. "Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord" (Ephesians 5:22). Submission is not the obliteration of the woman's personality. It is neither subjugation nor imposed obedience. Submission is a voluntary subordination, it is obedience motivated by love (Philippians 2:5-8). Such a life speaks loudly and clearly, and is often the most effective way to influence family members. Christian wives should develop inner beauty rather than being overly concerned about their appearance. When a wife lives the Christian faith quietly and consistently in the home, her family would see Christ in her.

Research has shown that all the leading pastors in Nigeria, especially holiness preachers, have good homes. They love and respect their wives. If you must be a success in the ministry, you must carry your wife along. Until you set priority right, you may find it difficult to have a good home. Hence an ideal priority should be your God, your spouse and children, your immediate family and your ministry.

Don't tell us you are born again if your wife does not see you as a Christian. The decision is yours. The God of love is the same God of judgement. Give up anything that will make the Lord give up on you. Betrayal is an advanced stage of backsliding.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Openness and honesty are major keys in maintaining the stability of marital life.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

THE LORD JESUS SHALL BIND YOUR MARRIAGE TOGETHER WITH THE CORD OF HIS DIVINE LOVE AND UNITY, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Lord, change my heart and make me a worthy spouse in my marriage, in the name of Jesus.

2. Every blockage to free flow of information between me and my spouse, break now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

3. Blood of Jesus Christ, remove every limitation to unity and love in my marriage, in the name of Jesus Christ.

EVENING

4. Lord, give me and my spouse, kind and compassionate hearts towards each other, in the name of Jesus.

5. Power of betrayal in my marital life, die now, in the name of Jesus.

6. My marriage shall not fish in fishless ocean of life, in the name of Jesus.

7. The spirit of promiscuity and backsliding, lose your grip upon my marriage, in the name of Jesus.

STEWARDSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN PARENTING

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Psalms 127:1-5

MEMORY VERSE:

Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Are you a biological or spiritual parent or guardian? The Lord is speaking to you in today's message. He has committed that divine duty into your care. He expects some due returns. I pray you shall not fail Him, in the name of Jesus.

If the Bible says that children are a gift from the Lord, then parents are like caretakers, minding the children on behalf of God, with the mind that as stewards of the Lord over the children, accountability is required. Your leadership starts from home. Be that godly leader to lead your children or wards in the right path of life.

As stewards, therefore, you must point the children to their heavenly Father who created them for a definite purpose. Ephesians 6:4 says, "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Don't be like Eli who failed God (1 Samuel 3:11-18). The notion that parents own the children should be totally erased. Both parents and their children are created for God's purpose. Parents are to teach and train their children and wards towards the purpose of God for them, to enable them fulfil destiny. They should also teach, guide and pray for them as they go along in the journey of life.

God so much trusted Abraham that He boasted over his commitment in teaching his children in the way of the Lord. Dear parent and beloved guardian, it is time you realise that your position is divine and God does not joke with the life of any growing child. The result is that God will ask you to give account over them. He is interested in how you train them.

Beloved, what role are you playing in your children's or wards' lives? Remember, you will submit a record of activity of your stewardship over that child. Think about it. Will God give you a pass mark over that child? He belongs to God; let him know that. Jesus said, "The Kingdom belongs to the children." This shows how important these little ones are to heaven. Don't toy with their lives! Invest godly values into them, build them up as heritages unto the Lord (Psalms 127:3a) and God will be delighted in you. Pass on the godly legacy of faith and trust in God. Let them know Him and be totally committed to Him. Teach them to read the word of God and to pray. Let God become their friend and confidant. Do your part and leave the rest to God.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Children are your garments of honour. If you care for them, they will cover you in the future.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

I PRAY THAT YOU SHALL NOT FALL SHORT OF DIVINE EXPECTATION OVER MY CHILDREN, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. O God, enable parents to lead their children/wards aright in every area of their lives, in the name of Jesus.

2. Spirit of Belial will not rest upon my children/wards, in the name of Jesus.

3. My Father, make me a good example to my children/wards, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. I will not be an instrument of destruction to my children/wards, in the name of Jesus.

5. O God, release Your wisdom and knowledge upon me to nurture the children/wards you have given me, in the name of Jesus.

6. The light of my children will not be put off in the noon of their lives, in the name of Jesus.

7. O God, arise, do not let my children's/wards' destinies be reinvented by the enemy, in the name of Jesus.

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

EFFECTUAL PRAYER

FIRE SCRIPTURE: James 5:17b

MEMORY VERSE:

James 5:16b "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

The words "effectual" and "fervent" are translated from one Greek word  (energeo) from which we get the English word "energy". Here it denotes an energetic, operative prayer.

As God's children, we must not be contented with weak prayers. We must desire to have enthusiastic, effective prayer life. The Church, known as the "house of prayer" must be exuding with effective prayer of God's saints. We may be short on financial resources or weak in our physical strength or despised and ridiculed by those who are hostile towards the biblical doctrines that we hold on to, but the power of prayer belongs to us.

The key to effective prayers is not that very large group of people get together to pray or that a particular pattern or style of prayer meeting is followed, or that we hold very lengthy prayer meetings. Though some of those aspects of prayer are good and desirable, the effectiveness of our prayer is connected to the sanctity of our lives.

Interestingly, when the Holy Spirit inspired James to provide an illustration of such prayer, he chose Elijah, whose prayers God had used to demonstrate His mighty power. "Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit." (James 5:16-18).

James' point was that, although Elijah's mighty prayers and exploits were legendary, he was also a man of frailties and flaws. This was never so obvious than when after being used to display God's power to Ahab, the wicked idolater and king of Israel, Elijah then recoiled in fear and fled from the threats of Jezebel, Ahab's wife. He actually crawled under a juniper tree where he asked the Lord to take his life (1 Kings 19:2-4).

How can we make sense of such embarrassing behaviour from this mighty man of God, whose prayers God used to control the weather for more than three years? This was the same man who called fire down from Heaven, and who destroyed four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal. The simple explanation is that Elijah was human. He was a mere mortal, whose prayers God used in awesome and astonishing ways.

Thus, James' message is clear. If God could hear and answer the passionate faith-filled prayers of Elijah, a common man "with a nature like ours", He can likewise hear and answer yours and mine. The Lord is eager to answer the effectual, fervent prayers of ordinary, but righteous followers of Jesus Christ!

Beloved, ensure that your prayer is word-based and you will receive speedy answers from God.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

The hour of prayer is the hour of power.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

I PROPHESY TO YOU TODAY, YOU SHALL NOT PRAY AMISS, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Powers making my prayers ineffectual, die, in the name of Jesus.

2. Powers making me weak spiritually and morally in prayers, die, in the name of Jesus.

3. Father, give me an unquenchable appetite for prayer, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Father, I ask for the grace to be a person of prayer, in the name of Jesus.

5. Open my eyes to behold wondrous things out of prayer, Lord, in the name of Jesus.

6. Help me, Father, to maintain effectual prayer life, in the name of Jesus.

7. Baptise me afresh with the spirit of prayer, Father, in the name of Jesus.

POWER OF FAITHFULNESS

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 16:1-12

MEMORY VERSE:

Luke 16:10 "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Faithfulness is being reliable, loyal, dependable, trustworthy, passionate and committed. Faithfulness to God is when our total loyalty is to Him, come what may. Joseph demonstrated faithfulness when he was seduced by Potiphar's wife. God is faithful even when we are not, and His faithfulness never ends (Lamentation 3:22-23). God instructs us to be faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2, 10). He wants us to be loyal to Him until He calls us home.

The story of the wasteful steward in the text above reveals to you and me the power of faithfulness. Faithfulness makes a man to be accountable to God and man. A faithful man is an asset to God and the organisation he represents. Faithfulness makes a man to be humble. He will be strong and flourish even at old age. Faithfulness turns little into big. Like 19:7 affirms that there is a reward for faithfulness. A faithful child of God will enjoy worldly riches and also reign with God in eternity (Matthew 24:13). A faithful servant can be trusted. There is no partial faithfulness; you are either faithful or you are unjust. If a Christian is not faithful to God, his or her faithfulness is to mammon.

Beloved, the greatest thing that can be said about you at the end of age is: "Great and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord." Are you fruitful to the Lord and to your church? Do you serve God for what you get rather than for His glory to be revealed? Repent today, change your ways and see the faithfulness of God becoming manifest in your life.

God's faithfulness towards us gives us an example of how we should be faithful in our relationships. He wants us to be faithful towards Him, His calling, promises and message (Luke 2:1-20). He also wants us to be faithful to our spouses, leaders and bosess in church and at work. Being faithful shows that you have made becoming like Christ your goal and that always pleases God.

If you are yet to surrender your life to Christ, you lack the power to be faithful. Even if you use your will power, all your righteousness is like filthy rag. It takes a heart genuinely surrendered to God to be faithful. Repent now and become God's faithful servant. God bless you richly.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Faithfulness will put a man in the class of God. Be dependable!

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

LET THE POWER THAT HELPS A MAN TO WALK FAITHFULLY WITH GOD TO THE END OVERWHELM YOU, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. I receive grace to be faithful in little and in much, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father, keep me faithful to the end, no matter the challenges of life, in the name of Jesus.

3. I refuse to be a waster of the grace of God, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Every trait of unfaithfulness in me, be uprooted, in the name of Jesus.

5. Let not the care of this life terminate my faithfulness to God prematurely, in the name of Jesus.

6. Holy Spirit, empower me to faithfully work with God to the end, in the name of Jesus.

7. Let my story end in "Good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Father", in the name of Jesus.

Today's Devotion (Thursday) THE TRAGEDY OF SLEEP AND SLUMBER (II)

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE TRAGEDY OF SLEEP AND SLUMBER (II)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 25:1-13

MEMORY VERSE:

Proverbs 24:33 "Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:"

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Yesterday, we highlighted the colossal damage that sleep and slumber have caused in the lives of many believers and admonished that you learn from the victim's lessons. Today, we will further examine the tragedy of sleep and slumber.

How can you be a successful prayer warrior and intercessor if you spend all the hours of the night and 365 days in a year sleeping? If you fail in spiritual warfare and allow the enemy to hijack the midnight hours from you, you are not likely to succeed in other areas of life. Wise and vigilant Christians use the hours of the night to wage war, take authority and possess territories.

One of the tragedies of modern day Christianity is that, because they put sleep ahead of profitable spiritual exercises, sons and daughters no longer prophesy, old men no longer dream dreams and young men no longer see visions as they ought to. This is also why we have few prayer warriors, intercessors and prophets among us today. It is the reason for the powerlessness of our age and the inability to re-enact the wonders and miracles of early Christians. Rather than running from pillar to post in search of someone to pray for them or lay hand on them, what many people need is to sleep less and spend the hours of the night in prayer. That is the key to their Peniel encounter. Beloved, it is time to turn a new leaf!

The inability to exercise restraints and discipline in the area of sleep has also had disastrous consequences in the secular lives of believers. Many Christians have overslept and arrived late at examination halls and job interviews. Some have missed important appointments that would have changed their career and business fortunes and moved their lives forward permanently.

Oversleeping is a sign of spiritual slumber. It is a mark of laziness and indolence. The Bible says that a little sleep and a little slumber and a little folding of the arm (Proverbs 24:33). All these will lead to poverty. Jesus was so committed to His divine assignment that every other thing was secondary to Him and He said, "My meat (food) is to do the will of Him who sent me" (John 4:34).

Beloved, if you must make a head way in life and be a huge blessing to your generation, you must not allow sleep to rob you of your destiny and blessings. You must say no to spiritual slumber and all forms of laziness.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Early to bed, early to rise, keeps a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

RECEIVE THE POWER FOR DELIVERANCE FROM THE BONDAGE OF THE BED, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Every good thing I lost to spiritual sleep and slumber, I recover it now by fire, in the name of Jesus.

2. I will be an asset, not a liability to my generation, in the name of Jesus.

3. Holy Spirit, re-arrange my life to prioritise spiritual things, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Laziness and poverty shall not be my lot, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father, give me a personal Peniel encounter, in the name of Jesus.

6. I overcome the powers of the night, in the name of Jesus.

7. Day and night shall favour me, all the days of my life, in the name of Jesus.

Today's Devotional (Wednesday) THE TRAGEDY OF SLEEP AND SLUMBER (I)

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE TRAGEDY OF SLEEP AND SLUMBER (I)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Judges 16:15-20

MEMORY VERSE:

Romans 12:11 "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;"

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Men and women who have made the greatest mark in different arenas of life, including the Kingdom of God, are those who succeeded in conquering sleep -- they won the battle of the bed.

Sleep is good for the health and wellbeing of man. No human being can do without it. It is therapeutic and essential for physical, emotional and mental development of man. However, sleep, like every other useful thing, must be regulated or controlled so as to maximise its benefits. It is disheartening that some people do not only oversleep physically but they also slumber spiritually. Besides, many Christians have failed to fulfil destiny because they are still in bondage to the bed.

Samson's careless sleep led to the shaving of his hair and losing his divine strength, ministry and glory. Jonah's sleep in the ship landed him in trouble and he was cast into the sea and the belly of the whale. In the New Testament, Jesus hinted that while men slept, the enemy sowed tares in their wheat. The hour of sleep can therefore be described as man's vulnerable and unguarded hour. The five foolish virgins who missed the bridegroom were unfortunate because they slept when they should be awake. Similarly, a man named Eutychus fell and died because he slept off during Paul's sermon. All these examples are written for your learning.

Do you sleep when you should be awake and productive? You must turn a new leaf from today. Do you oversleep? Again, that will have negative effects on your spiritual and physical lives. Let everything you do, including the hours you spend sleeping, be done with moderation! Many people are also in spiritual slumber. The Kingdom of God does not tolerate laziness and slothfulness. Wake up from your slumber!

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

If you want your dream to come true, don't oversleep.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

THE ENEMY WILL NO LONGER USE SLEEP TO SHORT-CHANGE YOU AND PERVERT YOUR DESTINY, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. I overcome any form of bondage of the bed, in the name of Jesus.

2. Powers that want to use sleep and slumber to rob me of my blessings, die, in the name of Jesus.

3. Power to spend the hours of the night gainfully in prayer, fall upon me, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Sleep that leads to poverty and death, I reject you, in the name of Jesus.

5. Sleep that leads to prayerlessness and powerlessness, I reject you, in the name of Jesus.

6. Any evil thing that was introduced into my life during sleep, Holy Spirit, expunge it now, in the name of Jesus.

7. O Lord, make me Your battle axe and prophet in this end time, in the name of Jesus.

MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TELLING JESUS (III)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 5:1-9

MEMORY VERSE:

Matthew 28:18 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

THE MESSAGE:

Jesus truly cares for you. His compassion for you is matchless. That is why He is called our Good Shepherd. He is the dependable Friend, who is ever willing to bear your sins or pains and help you. A closed mouth is a closed destiny. Do not keep your problem to yourself or suffer needless pain in silence. Tell Jesus about it!

Are you encountering failure in an area of your life, even after several genuine and spirited efforts? I encourage you to tell Jesus about it. I advise you to imitate Peter. In Luke 5:5, Peter revealed his failure and suffering in the hands of the spirit of profitless hard work to Jesus, "Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing..." He then obeyed the instruction of the Royal Master and experienced a life-changing miracle.

What else should you tell Jesus? Tell Him your family troubles. There is no area of our lives that God's sovereignty does not cover. He is the Lord of all. God instituted marriage and family. He is in the best position to repair any damage in it. In Luke 9:38, a man took his son and only child, who was being tormented by demons, to Jesus. The man's son received complete deliverance and the man's family trouble ended. Is the enemy harassing your family in any way? Tell the One who is mighty to save, Jesus Christ, about it.

Many people quickly forget about their victories and don't even tell the Lord about it. That is ingratitude. Remember that God gave you the victory. Therefore, you should always tell Jesus about your victories and thank Him for them. Luke 10:17 affirms this right attitude, "And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject to us through thy name."

It is a known fact that life is not always a bed of roses; therefore, I encourage you to also share your disappointments with Jesus (Luke 24:18) as well as your bereavement (John 11:21). Jesus is an all-weather Friend!

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

Every difficulty you face, in every waiting place, you are being given the chance to trust the unseen and to be blessed abundantly.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:

I DECREE THAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE MADE JESUS YOUR ALL IN ALL, YOU WILL NEVER FAIL AND NEVER FALTER, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Father, pardon me for putting human confidants ahead of You, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father, forgive me for seeking help from men and princes, instead of trusting in You, in the name of Jesus.

3. I receive the grace and boldness to stick to Jesus as my all in all, in all situations, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. I shall not be an ingrate to the Lord, in the name of Jesus.

5. My Father, have mercy on me and visit me with signs and wonders, in the name of Jesus.

6. O God, increase Your grace and blessings in my life, in the name of Jesus.

7. As long as I put my trust in Jesus, I shall not be disappointed, in the name of Jesus.
