Resources For The Journey

-EXODUS 23:20-33

Key Verse:

"And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee"(Exodus 23:25).

It is expected of travellers to make good preparations for their journeys. Failure to prepare and plan ahead could be very costly. Good parents make adequate preparations for their children who are to travel. Apart from getting their luggage ready, they also contact friends and known individuals who can be of help. They ensure adequate resources for the success of the trip are provided. Israel was on a journey from Egypt to Canaan and God, as a good Father, made adequate provisions for the journey. He knew Israel would be confronted with challenging and difficult terrains in the wilderness. He, therefore, sent His angel to lead the way and instructed the Israelites on how to maintain constant fellowship with this guide. The text for today contains specific promises of God for travellers. Ten times, God promised "I will". He promised to guide the Israelites, be an enemy to their enemies, cut off their enemies, take sicknesses away from them and fulfil their days. What a faithful God He is! Like Israel in the wilderness, believers are also on a journey to the Promised Land. God has given us enough promises to help us overcome the enemy every day of our pilgrimage. Dear reader, God has provided for your needs today. He thought ahead of your needs and has sent His word to take care of you. His guiding angel is available to lead, protect and assist you in every area of your life, if you follow His instruction.

Guard Your Salvation Jealously

GENESIS 25:27-34

Key Verse:

"And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?" (Genesis 25:32).

When King Ahab coveted Naboth’s vineyard and requested to take it, Naboth declined, saying: "The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee" (1 Kings 21:1-3). Though he eventually lost his life through Jezebel’s plot, it was a noble act of bravery and protection of his inheritance. Isaac’s family was marred by ungodly preferences – Isaac loved Esau and Rebekah preferred Jacob. The children on their own did not help matters either, as the struggle for headship started from the womb. Esau’s request for pottage from his brother would have been uneventful were it not for this deep-seated rivalry. So, Jacob demanded for Esau’s birthright as an exchange for the food. Surprisingly, Esau acceded to the request and even swore to it. He got the food but lost the birthright. Today, Satan still makes demands on people, including believers, to surrender their "birthright" to him in exchange for some kind of "pottage of lentils" in the form of position, wealth or fame. The salvation from sin that Christ brought is the greatest gift ever given by God to man. As a believer, rejoice that your name is written in heaven. Paul counted all things "but dung", and all his sufferings as "light affliction", because he understood what salvation meant. He was ready to pay any price to keep it. The sad story of Esau should be an eye-opener to every heaven-bound citizen to preserve his "birthright" through watchfulness, constant prayer and obedience to the counsel of God.

2. Corkscrew

Start lying on your back with hands under your head. Then you should lift your legs in the air. Straighten the legs out, tilt your feet back, so the bottom of your feet is facing up, and touch your heels together. After that, you need to rotate your feet to the right in a small circle. Make a pause and then repeat the exercise.

3. Plank

Start with the pushup position. Your upper part of the body must be straight in line with the elbows and toes when they are slightly raised. Keep up this straight position, take deep breaths, and feel the muscles getting strong. When you contract the buttock muscles, equally divide the weight into both legs and elbows to have more strength and balance.

4. Russian Twist

You need to lie down on the floor. Then elevate your body with arms extended in front of you. Twist your torso to the right side until your arms are parallel to the floor. Hold it for a second and move back. Repeat it on the opposite side.

5. Side Plank

Start this exercise standing with your feet shoulder-width apart. Then do a regular squat and finish it jumping up in the air. When you land, lower your body back into a squat position. Repeat it ten times.

6. Spiderman Plank

You should start in plank position and then bring your right foot off the ground and drive your right knee up and out to your right elbow. After that bring your leg back in the starting position and repeat the movement with the other leg. Do it several times.

7. V-ups

You should lie on your back on the floor with extended arms behind your head. Your feet need to be together, and your toes pointed toward the ceiling. Then start lifting your legs up and at the same time raises your upper body off the floor and reaches for your toes. Squeeze your abdominal muscles and hold the position for several seconds. Then bring your body back to the starting position.

After 30 days regular workout you can make a pause form one week, and then continue the challenge another month. Do this till you get the results you want.

The Earth’s Ruin

ISAIAH 24:1-22

Key Verse:

"The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish" (Isaiah 24:4).

Events and occurrences in the world today point to the fact that the world will soon cease to exist. It is true that no one knows God’s programme for the world with all the things therein, except the disclosures already made in the Holy Bible. Human beings, the apex of God’s creative power, have corrupted the world. This trend did not start in the recent past. Right from the Genesis, God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (Genesis 6:5). Since then, generation after generation has regrettably proven that the preceding generation’s level of wickedness, sin and inhumanity would be a mere child’s play. Isaiah chapters 24-27 are often called ‘Isaiah’s Apocalypse.’ These chapters discuss God’s judgment on the entire world for its sins. The prophecies of Isaiah were directed at Judah, then to Israel, the surrounding nations and finally to all the nations of the world. The message is simple and clear: God will judge the whole world. Sin’s consequences are devastating. The land would no more yield fruits and crime would pervade the entire society. Today, the situation has gone from bad to worse. Believers cannot stand by, but stand up and cry aloud. The gospel should be preached ceaselessly to sinners in our homes, neighbourhood, schools and workplaces so they may repent and escape the pending doom. We can also distribute tracts and other Christian literatures such as books and magazines. The best time for us to spread the gospel in obedience to the Great Commission is now. Every believer must be involved!

The Superior Atonement

LEVITICUS 9:1-14

Key Verse:

"And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an atonement for thyself, and for the people: and offer the offering of the people, and make an atonement for them; as the LORD commanded" (Leviticus 9:7).

The concept of atonement is as old as the fall of man, when God caused Adam and Eve to be clothed with coats of skin He had made. The aprons Adam and Eve made out of fig leaves could not do. It was inferior but God’s was superior. In the Mosaic ordinances, it was the exclusive responsibility of the high priest to perform atonement for the sins of the people. Aaron and his sons were charged with the responsibility of offering the different sacrifices for the sins of Israel. Moses, as directed by God, instructed them as to what offerings to be observed - sin offering, burnt offering, peace offering and meat offering - with their respective sacrifices. One important aspect of this ordinance was that the high priest had to first, make atonement for himself before making for the people. This was an acknowledgement of his personal imperfection. Indeed, the whole process was imperfect and only served as a pointer to the ultimate atonement which was performed by Christ Jesus, our perfect High Priest. Unlike Aaron, Christ was sinless and did not have to atone for Himself. Unlike the use of animal blood, Christ shed his own blood and died a vicarious death. The Mosaic atonement needed to be done every year (because it could not really cleanse sins); Christ’s atonement was once and for all and is of universal application. To benefit from Christ’s atonement, you must acknowledge your sins, confess them to God, repent of those sins and place your faith in Him to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. No matter how terrible your sins were, they will be forgiven if you repent in sincerity. Note that no other sacrifice qualifies for your cleansing and reconciliation with God. Take these steps, become a child of God and have access to the unsearchable riches of Christ here and beyond.

Thought for the day: Atonement through Christ’s death is sufficient for all that believe on Him.

Don’t Frustrate Your Leader

2 KINGS 12:1-7

Key Verse:

"But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house" (2 Kings 12:6).

Most times, leaders have wonderful agenda for their people. They come up with the sincere desire to make meaningful impact on the society. But a lot of times, we find them failing. A good look at this will show that the failures of these leaders are not mostly due to their weakness or unwillingness to perform; but the failures of their subordinates who deliberately fail to discharge the duties assigned them. King Jehoash saw the need to repair the house of God, made arrangements on how to raise funds and instructed the priests to carry out the repairs. But the priests failed to carry out the instructions. Leadership is a collective responsibility. The success of the good plans of the leader does not only depend on him, but also on all his subordinates and the entire citizens. We all have our roles to play in the success of our leaders, be it in the homes, churches or the society at large. We must see that we play our assigned roles well enough to bring about the success of our collective goals. It is bad leadership when leaders assign duties but fail to check up on this. This negligence can result in the failure of the leaders. Whatever leadership privilege we have, we must ensure we don’t assign duties and totally abdicate our roles. Ultimately, we take responsibilities for whatever happens under us. But we must know that the success of a leader is not all up to him; we should play our part well and see that we do not frustrate him by our own negligence. Whether we are leaders or followers, we should demonstrate diligence, faithfulness and accountability in all that we do.

Thought for the day: An evidence of sonship in Christ is the possession of the servant attitude.

Let Us Pray

ISAIAH 26:6-16

Key Verse:

"With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness" (Isaiah 26:9).

There is no doubt that everyone is tired of the current trends in the world. The crimes, corruption, injustice, rebellion, insecurity, etc., fill all and sundry with fear. Everybody desires a change that will bring relief and respite to our world. The search for this is ever ongoing, with conferences, seminars, researches, consultations among nations, increased religious activities, among others. But all these efforts seem to be taking us farther away from our desire. What then is the way out? According to Prophet Isaiah, the establishment of God’s judgment on the earth is the only way out to make the people learn righteousness. When the people are thus made righteous, all the evils plaguing the world will be a thing of the past. To have God’s righteousness established on the earth, the prophet resolved to seek the Lord in prayer with the whole heart and all-day round. There are many things around us that talking and complaining will not change. At times, we may notice trends among children in the family or members in the church that call for great concern and worry. What most people do at such a time is to complain, murmur and blame it on one thing or the other. But that will never bring the desired change. We need to borrow a leaf from Prophet Isaiah in order to find the relief we desire. Let us learn to wait on the Lord in fervent prayer which is centred on seeking His glory in our homes, churches and nations. Let us move away from the dry, self-centred prayers that are focused on carnal, material and fading desires and cry to God for true righteousness. We will thereafter see the changes we desire in our homes, churches and society.

Thought for the day: Only on bended knees can we experience genuine righteousness and peace!

A Journey Of Faith

JOSHUA 3:1-13

Key Verse:

"And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it" (Joshua 3:3).

The African impala can jump to a height of over 10 feet and cover a distance more than 30 feet, but could also be enclosed in any zoo with a 3-foot wall. These magnificent creatures will not jump if they cannot see where their feet will fall. Faith is the ability to trust and be freed from the flimsy enclosures of life that fear allows to entrap us. Israel was to cross River Jordan into the Promised Land after years of meandering through the wilderness. With their plans based only on the promise of God to cut off the waters of the Jordan, it was therefore a journey of faith. Looking at the battles that were fought in the Bible, there was so much reliance on divine protection without much emphasis on getting the services of expert mercenaries. It would appear laughable that one would rely on just a promise made by God to win under those conditions – but it worked. Israel defeated all the nations that came against them, but only failed when they disobeyed God’s commandments. The laws of nature appeared to be set aside when they crossed two major rivers and numerous other obstacles to eventually make it to the Promised Land. The Christian journey is that of faith. To make it to the Promised Land of heaven, we need to sometimes close our eyes to science and the laws of nature, trusting God alone to take us through the many obstacles that present themselves on the way. It is impossible to pass through life without obstacles. Some of them could be long and challenging like the huge Jordan overflowing its banks. You may sometimes get to the river before the strategy to cross it comes out. Whatever happens, we must keep pressing on by faith.

Thought for the day: Faith is believing the impossible and seeing the invisible.

Selfless Sacrificial Love

1 JOHN 3:11-24

Key Verse:

"Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth" (1 John 3:16,18).

A man, sick and weighed down by the dreaded HIV scourge and on the throes of death, looked up and prayed to God thus: "O Lord, if truly you love me, prove it now by raising me up from this bed of affliction". Very gently, Jesus whispered into his ears: "I have proved it already by dying on the cross for your sins. There is nothing more to prove". Christ’s vicarious death on the cross of Calvary has remained the highest price anyone could ever pay for the sake of others. "For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die" (Romans 5:7). While we, the entire humanity were yet in our sins, Christ died for us. He paid the supreme price to redeem lost humanity. Consequently, redeemed souls are called to love without counting the cost. We are not to allow anything come between us and our love for God. We are to love Him with all our heart, soul and mind. Our love for our neighbours is no less tasking. We are to love them even as we love ourselves. Does our heart condemn us when we fail to show love? We have been endowed with many blessings to act as a conduit to the needy around us, be it in the church or in our neighbourhood. We must endeavour to love in word and in deed. Our endowments are to be held in trust for the benefit of others sacrificially. We cannot truly claim to be representing Christ where our deeds of love are selective and self-serving. A true saint of God loves naturally and unreservedly.

Thought for the day: There is no true love without sacrifice.

Genesis 2v7 tells us the genesis of man and the first man was called Adam and which means earth....man was formed from this earth,  no matter your degree, Talent and no matter the money you have you will return to the dust.  The dryness of our skin, the blood vessels becoming hard, the wrinkles all shows that man is dust. In Gen 3v14 God caused the serpent that dust shall thou eat, the serpent food is the dust and man is dust so a man operating out of the system of God will become the food to the serpent this is the secret of psalm 27v1-2. I pray for someone here that if there's is any power eating you here receive your deliverance in the name of Jesus. 
In isiah 49v25-26 we have seen it that there are powers that eat flesh and drink blood,  I pray for you that powers assigned to drink your blood and eat your flesh shall eat their flesh and be drunken with their blood. 

The largest place where this drinkers of blood and eaters of flesh are in the butchers market they are responsible for the Numerous murderer, Armrobbery. 

PRAYER: Any arrow fired into any organ of your body as you shout this seven (7) fold amen I command the arrow to go back to the sender. 

Ignorance is a very bad spiritual disease, a man is a spirit living in a body with a soul it is therefore a serious matter that some Powers decide to eat up the flesh the container of the soul and spirit.

If they put the image in a coven and carried to the burial ground they person will die if God doesn't intervene. All this things will not happen to you if you live your life according to the plan of God. They oppress, They torment, Harass, cause Weakness and trouble.

A Needless Fury

2 SAMUEL 13:21-39

Key Verse:

"Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant" (2 Samuel 13:28).

The display of anger is a matter of choice. Hence, hardly would a sane person choose to be angry. Many people justify their acts of anger, cruelty and extreme wickedness on provocation; yet anger, no matter the cause, rests in the bosom of fools. Tamar’s rape by her half brother, Amnon, was bad enough and caused King David to grieve. But Absalom, Tamar’s elder brother, bottled his anger over the horrible act for two years. He organised an event to schematically murder Amnon. Regardless of the gravity of Amnon’s offence, it was not in anyone’s place to avenge an act of sin, cruelty or wickedness. The Bible clearly warns against revenge. For believers under the New Covenant, with Christ as the Mediator, any act of vengeance is a sin. Even under the Old Covenant, murder was forbidden, for he that kills by the sword shall also die by the sword. Absalom should have confronted his brother over the sin he had committed rather than nurse the revenge for two years. King David, being a man of weak moral credentials, failed in respect of Amnon, although he was a successful king and military ruler. We are to guard against unbridled, inveterate anger, no matter the gravity of the offence. "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord" (Romans 12:19). Saved from sin, you must thirst and pray through for sanctification experience to receive the grace to be uplifted beyond negative emotional outpouring.

Simply Believe

LUKE 4:15-22

Key Verse:

"And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?" (Luke 4:21,22).

God called Isaiah to proclaim His message to the people. Though he spoke the truth, the people would not believe him, especially because much of his prophetic utterances were about judgment for their sins. Isaiah also prophesied extensively about the coming of the Messiah but the people still did not believe him. In the text, the Scripture was being fulfilled right before the people. As Christ read the passage, "the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him." He pointedly told them: "This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears". The people knew that the application Jesus made was to Himself. They could accept Him as a good Teacher but not as the Messiah. Outstanding miracles had taken place in Capernaum but the unbelief of the people of Nazareth robbed them of any miracle. Certainly, God had been doing great and mighty works through local pastors and leaders. Do we acknowledge these gracious works and give glory to God? Nicodemus had rightly observed … "no man can do this miracle that thou doest except God be with him" (John 3:2b). Let us believe God’s prophets and teachers. We run the risk of walking the path of unbelief like the Jews when we refuse to believe the word of God and the miracles being accomplished through the ministry of His dedicated ministers. The rash of heresies and damnable practices going on in the name of God does not diminish the fact that He still works through His faithful ministers today. Our lot is to test the Spirit and know if it is of God. Once we find it to be so, especially through the mirror of His Word, we must believe unreservedly. Unbelief is sin that robs people of God’s blessings but faith in the penitent who prays for forgiveness will result in his salvation and a deluge of other blessings. Live by faith in God.

OFFICIAL: Arsenal sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund for club record fee

Having come through the ranks at AC Milan, Aubameyang impressed at St. Etienne before making his name at Dortmund. Arriving in 2013, the striker initially played second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski, but became the main man when the Polish striker moved to Bayern Munich a year later.

Armed with astonishing pace - the rumour goes that he is faster over 30 metres than Usain Bolt - and canny movement, he has netted 141 goals in 212 appearances for Dortmund.

Aubameyang's pace is mesmerising, and he is an instinctive goalscorer, but he is heavily reliant on good service. For Dortmund, he has always been at his best when he has teamed up with the likes of Marco Reus, Ousmane Dembele or Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

His brilliant positioning and sharp movement mean that he is almost unstoppable when coupled with an intelligent winger or attacking midfielder. Left to his own devices, however, he has his limitations. He lacks the incision to create chances for himself, and often fluffs his lines in one-on-one situations.

Aubameyang has established himself as one of Europe's premier marksmen over the last few seasons and has been in incredible form in front of goal this term.

The 28-year-old has joined us from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract for a club-record fee.

Our second signing of the January transfer window, Auba is one of the world’s most highly-rated strikers. He scored 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga games for Dortmund and had a hand in 172 goals in 213 matches in all competitions for his former club.

That works out at an average of 96 minutes per goal or assist.

Auba is the Gabon captain and all-time top goalscorer, and became the first Gabonese winner of the African Footballer of the Year award in 2015.

This deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes and Auba’s squad number will be confirmed shortly.

Use It Well

PROVERBS 11:22-31

Key Verse:

"As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion" (Proverbs 11:22).

The way we make use of a thing is determined by the value we place on it. Precious things are usually put into very special and careful use. What we use it for must match its worth. It is a show of lack of wisdom and discretion when a substance of high and esteemed value is thrown into the mud! The passage for meditation calls us to a wise and discretional use of our precious possessions. As it is foolish to put a jewel of gold in the snout of a pig, so is it a lack of discretion when we fail to realise the value of our gifts and possessions and so use them in the wrong way and for the wrong purpose. A beautiful woman who flirts around shows lack of proper understanding of the worth of her life and beauty. The same is true of an individual who holds on tenaciously and selfishly to his wealth or possessions thinking that, by so doing, he would preserve or increase them. Hoarding our gifts, riches, knowledge and other possessions reveal that we lack understanding and wisdom. Life is a precious and beautiful gift. So are all the other gifts and possessions that come with it. If we truly understand the worth of our lives and other possessions and place the right value on them – be they beauty, gifts, talents, riches, knowledge or any other possession - we will make efforts to use them for God’s glory and the good of our fellow men. It is as we use them this way that they will abound the more. Besides, God will reward us on earth and in heaven if we use our gifts and possessions for His glory.
